Day 14
Haters Gonna Hate.
When you start working toward a new goal, making a change or pursuing a dream, there will always be somebody who’s got something to say! And usually what they got to say is not encouraging or even remotely kind. When I started this 5k challenge I briefly worried what the haters might say. But as I quickly approach 45, I am becoming less interested in what haters say about me and more interested in what I say about me? The “haters” in your mind are far more damaging than the haters out in the world. As parents of children with special needs, we have a million choices to make each day for our children. The last thing we need are thoughts of self-loathing tearing us down and keeping us from becoming the best parents we can be. Keep in mind, you are parenting a one-of-a-kind child, that doesn’t fit the mold, which means only YOU are the expert on your child. Only YOU know the amount of work it takes to keep your kid alive and well. And ONLY you know what you NEED to keep going.
What “haters” are floating in your mind? Instead, as the only expert on your own life, what loving, encouraging, and useful words could you say to yourself on purpose?
